Deckorators Certified Pro

Premium Deckorators Composite Decking Solutions

As one of the few Deckorators Certified Pro contractors in North Atlanta, we bring manufacturer-level expertise to every custom deck project — backed by warranties most builders can't offer.

Mineral-Based Composite Technology

Deckorators composite decking uses a proprietary mineral-based core that outperforms traditional wood-plastic composites in strength, moisture resistance, and dimensional stability. Unlike wood-filled composites that can absorb water and swell over time, the mineral core stays rock-solid through Georgia's humid summers and heavy spring rains. This technology means your deck won't warp, cup, or develop soft spots — even after decades of North Atlanta weather. It's the reason we chose Deckorators as our exclusive composite line for custom deck construction projects across Alpharetta, Milton, and Roswell.

Manufacturer-Backed Labor Warranties

Being a Deckorators Certified Pro isn't just a marketing badge — it means our installation work is directly backed by the manufacturer's labor warranty, something the vast majority of deck builders in Georgia cannot offer. We've completed rigorous factory training, maintain ongoing certification requirements, and follow Deckorators' exact installation specifications on every project. For you, this translates to a warranty that covers both materials and our workmanship under a single manufacturer guarantee. It's the highest level of protection available for composite deck construction in North Atlanta.

Voyage, Vault & Heritage Series

We help you choose the right Deckorators line for your home and budget. The Voyage series is our most popular for high-end deck design in Alpharetta and Milton — it features the deepest wood grain textures, a 50-year structural warranty, and the widest selection of colors inspired by natural hardwoods. The Vault series delivers the same mineral-based core at a more accessible price, with a clean, contemporary profile that works beautifully on modern homes. And for homeowners who want the warmth of real wood grain with composite performance, the Heritage line bridges the gap between traditional aesthetics and modern durability.

Poolside & Slip-Resistant Performance

Many of our North Atlanta clients want decking that extends around their pool, hot tub, or outdoor kitchen area. Deckorators composite boards are engineered with slip-resistant surface textures that perform in wet conditions — critical for family safety around water. The boards also stay measurably cooler underfoot than concrete, pavers, or stone during Georgia's hottest months. Combined with resistance to chlorine, saltwater, and UV fading, it's the ideal low-maintenance surface for any poolside installation in Johns Creek, Cumming, or Marietta.

Our Process

Our Custom Deck Design & Construction Process

Every deck we build starts with understanding your property, your lifestyle, and your vision. Here's how we take you from initial concept to the finished outdoor living space you've been picturing.

1

Site Analysis & Design Consultation

We start with an on-site visit to assess your property's unique conditions — the grade and topography of your yard, soil composition, existing drainage patterns, and how the home's architecture connects to the proposed deck area. North Atlanta properties, especially in neighborhoods like Windward, Crabapple, and The Manor Golf & Country Club, often have sloped lots that require careful structural planning for elevated decks. During this visit, we discuss your design preferences, intended use, and budget so we can develop a proposal that fits your specific situation. This initial consultation is always free.

2

Structural Engineering & Permitting

Every custom deck we build meets or exceeds local building codes in Fulton County, Forsyth County, and Cherokee County. For multi-story elevated decks — common on homes with walk-out basements throughout Alpharetta and Milton — we work with licensed structural engineers to ensure proper footing depths, beam sizing, and joist spacing. We handle all permit applications, plan submissions, and schedule every required inspection so you don't have to take a single trip to the building department. Our familiarity with local code requirements means fewer revisions and faster approval timelines.

3

Architectural Integration

A great deck doesn't just sit next to your house — it becomes part of it. We pay close attention to how your new deck transitions from interior living spaces, matching roof lines for covered sections, aligning with existing door thresholds, and coordinating materials with your home's exterior finishes. Whether you're adding a deck off the main level with stairs to the yard or building an expansive multi-level structure that wraps around the home, every connection point is designed for structural integrity and visual cohesion. This attention to architectural detail is what separates professional custom deck builders from basic installers.

4

Material Selection & Construction

With the design finalized and permits in hand, we guide you through selecting the right materials for your project. Most of our clients choose Deckorators composite decking for its unmatched durability and low maintenance, but we also build with premium-grade cedar and pressure-treated lumber for homeowners who prefer natural wood. Every substructure uses pressure-treated framing rated for ground contact, stainless steel hardware to prevent rust staining, and hidden fastener systems for a clean, screw-free surface. Typical construction takes 1–3 weeks depending on project complexity, and we keep you informed at every stage.

"It's tough to find people you feel like you can trust not to try and get over on you. I spoke with Wes about work I needed to get done and was surprised at his level of honesty and professionalism. Putting that with the word of mouth on the quality of his work... and I wouldn't/won't hesitate to work with him on my next project."

"We had a major project to be undertaken. Need construction to the rescue!! We had water damage to some of the framing on the home exterior and major deck demo and rebuild. They handled it all. I had some unique requests that I wanted installed on my deck. The DekDrain rain system along with the full composite Dekorators Summit boards and railing with a cocktail rail was our desire. We also had to have a concrete patio area below. Wes and his team made it all happen. The subframe was built with better materials that any other contractor had even offered and I was impressed with that alone. I have no doubt that hurricane force winds would have no effect on this fortress of a deck. Even the city inpectors were wowed by the build quality. The craftsmanship and finishing of the final product is top tier. They will take the time to make sure it's your dream come true."

FAQ

Custom Deck Building FAQ

Answers to common questions from North Atlanta homeowners considering a new composite deck.

How much does a Deckorators composite deck cost?

A Deckorators composite deck in North Atlanta typically ranges from $45 to $85 per square foot installed, depending on the product series you choose. The Voyage series sits at the premium end with enhanced grain patterns and the widest color selection, while the Vault line offers excellent durability at a more accessible price point. As a Deckorators Certified Pro, our installation labor is backed directly by the manufacturer's warranty — a level of protection most contractors simply cannot offer. Over 20 to 25 years, our Alpharetta and Milton clients consistently see a 70–80% return on investment when they sell their homes.

What is the difference between composite vs wood deck maintenance?

Composite decking eliminates the annual sanding, staining, and sealing cycle that pressure-treated wood demands — a serious advantage in our Georgia climate. During pollen season, composite boards only need occasional cleaning with soap and water or a gentle pressure wash, while wood decks require a full refinishing each year. Wood in our humid summers is also prone to rot, warping, and termite damage, leading to costly repairs every few years. Over a 25-year span, composite decking typically saves homeowners $8,000 to $15,000 in maintenance costs alone.

How long does a composite deck last in Georgia's climate?

Premium Deckorators composite decking carries manufacturer warranties of 25 to 50 years depending on the product line. The mineral-based composite core resists moisture absorption, which is critical during Georgia's humid summers where traditional wood decks swell and crack. UV-resistant cap technology prevents fading even under our intense Southern sun exposure. We've been building composite decks across North Atlanta for over 8 years, and our earliest installations still look virtually new.

Do I need a permit for a deck in Alpharetta or Milton?

Yes, both the City of Alpharetta and the City of Milton require building permits for new deck construction and significant modifications to existing structures. Elevated decks — especially those over 30 inches above grade — also require engineering plans and safety inspections at multiple stages. Need Construction handles the entire permitting process for you, from initial drawings and plan submissions to final code inspections, so you never have to navigate the city building department yourself.

Can you build a deck over an existing patio?

Building a deck over an existing concrete patio is absolutely possible and is one of the more popular upgrades we perform in North Atlanta subdivisions. The key considerations are ensuring proper structural support, accounting for drainage so water doesn't pool beneath the new deck surface, and maintaining adequate clearance for ventilation. We assess the existing patio's condition and grade to determine if additional footings are needed or if the concrete slab itself can serve as a stable foundation.

Are Deckorators products slip-resistant for pool areas?

Deckorators Voyage series boards feature a textured grain pattern specifically engineered for superior wet-surface grip, making them an excellent choice around pools and hot tubs. Independent testing shows slip-resistance ratings that exceed standard safety thresholds even when boards are fully saturated. The composite surface also stays cooler underfoot than concrete or stone in Georgia's summer heat — a major benefit for families with children and pets who spend time around the pool.

Is financing available for custom deck projects?

Yes, we offer flexible financing options to help North Atlanta homeowners invest in quality outdoor living without straining their budget. Our financing partners provide competitive rates with terms ranging from 12 to 120 months, and many clients qualify for low-interest promotional periods. We walk you through the approval process during your initial design consultation so you know exactly what your monthly investment looks like before any work begins.

How do you handle under-deck drainage?

We integrate professional underdeck drainage systems — including Trex RainEscape and custom gutter solutions — that channel water away from the area beneath your elevated deck. This creates a completely dry space below that's perfect for outdoor furniture, storage, or even a full outdoor living area. The system is installed above the joists during deck construction, protecting the substructure from moisture damage while effectively doubling your usable outdoor space from a single structure.
